Lumber

A managed tree supply provides logs for construction and processing while keeping the colony’s forest productive over time.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Suitable tree blocks within Forester reach, with mature trees in Lumberjack Flag work areas and a connected log route.

Use a Forester to mark tree planting blocks, then assign a Lumberjack Flag to cut mature trees. Keep planting and cutting areas coordinated so lumberjacks do not remove the replacement forest before it grows. Logs need a reachable Log Pile or production building; the cut itself does not move them to every place they may be needed.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • A Forester with workers and suitable planting blocks.
  • A Lumberjack Flag covering trees to harvest.
  • A Log Pile or reachable downstream user such as a Sawmill.
  • Paths and labor for planting, cutting, and hauling.
  1. Choose suitable ground and place a Forester so its work area covers the future tree stand.
  2. Use Plant Trees and Bushes to mark blocks for planting.
  3. Place a Lumberjack Flag over trees intended for cutting, leaving the marked reserve outside its cutting area where practical.
  4. Staff both buildings and check that tree planting and cutting assignments are active.
  5. Provide nearby Log Pile storage or a direct route to a Sawmill and check log movement.
  6. As trees mature and are cut, keep replacement blocks planted so the wood supply can recover.
  7. Review work areas when the stand changes and move flags if they no longer cover useful trees.

Farming tips

  • Separate planting reserves from active cutting areas so lumberjacks do not cut newly planted trees.
  • A planted zone is not a log supply until trees grow and a Lumberjack Flag harvests them.

Repeat, collect and use

This is a renewable cycle when suitable land and trees remain: plant, wait for growth, cut mature trees, haul logs, and replant harvested space.

Common mistakes

  • Marking planting blocks outside Forester range: check its work area before setting the tree plan.
  • Cutting the entire replacement area: keep reserve trees or planted blocks outside the active cutting zone.
  • Leaving logs without storage or a reachable user: add accessible storage and check paths.

When to stop or switch

Reduce cutting when the log reserve is adequate or replacement trees are not keeping up; resume or expand after planting capacity and mature supply recover.
