WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
A Sawmill on a reachable path near log storage and the district’s plank users.
Keep a Sawmill supplied with logs and make sure its output can be stored or delivered to the buildings that need planks. The mill’s faction-specific operating needs, including power, must be met. Avoid consuming the entire log supply for planks if the colony also needs raw logs elsewhere.
A Sawmill that can operate under the selected faction’s work and power rules.
A steady supply of logs from a Lumberjack Flag or storage.
Accessible output storage or downstream buildings for planks.
Workers and paths connecting the input and output.
Place the Sawmill where logs can reach it from a Log Pile or nearby harvest area.
Check its required operating conditions in-game and provide power if the building requires it.
Staff the mill and select or confirm its plank production setting.
Make sure logs are available to the Sawmill and that its output has storage space.
Inspect the building status and nearby inventories to confirm planks are being produced and moved.
Route planks to construction or production needs through local storage and hauling.
Retain enough raw logs for other recipes or construction demands before expanding plank production.
Farming tips
Logs and planks are separate goods; provide storage for the material the next building actually uses.
If production stalls, check the mill’s displayed status and both input and output access before adding another mill.
Repeat, collect and use
The conversion is repeatable while logs, workers, operating conditions, and output capacity remain available. Continue replenishing logs and moving planks to current users.
Common mistakes
Building a mill without a log route: connect it to a reachable source or storage.
Ignoring power or staffing requirements: verify the building is operating before increasing supply.
Using all logs for planks: retain a raw-log reserve for other needs.
When to stop or switch
Stop production when plank storage meets current construction needs or log reserves are low; restart when a new demand appears and the raw-log supply can support it.
