Season Change Cleanup

A timely field check protects harvests that cannot survive the season change and prepares the farm for the next planting window.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Your planted farm plots on the final day of a season and during your first field visit after the season changes.

Use the end of a season to sort the field crop by crop. Mature plants that cannot grow in the incoming season need harvesting before the calendar turns; incompatible crops left behind die. Crops that remain season-compatible can stay where they are. After the change, clear dead plants, prepare only the ground you intend to reuse, and plant suitable seeds. Save the harvested produce for cooking or brewing, and account for seasonal changes in fruit availability when planning tavern ingredients.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Know which season is ending and which season follows.
  • Have the appropriate harvest tool for the crops you intend to collect; grain requires a Scythe.
  • Keep a Hoe, Watering Can, and incoming-season seeds ready if you plan to replant.
  1. Walk the planted plots before the final day and identify each crop and whether it is mature.
  2. Check which crops suit the incoming season; make a separate decision for each crop rather than clearing whole rows automatically.
  3. Harvest mature crops that cannot grow in the next season before the calendar changes. Use the Scythe for grain.
  4. Carry the produce to storage and reserve ingredients needed for planned cooking or brewing.
  5. After the transition, inspect the field for plants that died because they are incompatible with the new season.
  6. Clear dead crop remains using the available farm interaction, while leaving living compatible crops in place.
  7. Hoe cleared ground where needed, plant seeds suited to the current season, and water dry soil.
  8. Check which fruit is available in the new season and adjust ingredient or menu plans if necessary.

Farming tips

  • Give priority to mature, incompatible crops: their harvest window ends at the season change.
  • Use recipe needs to decide which produce to store and how many replacement seeds to buy.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat the inspection at every season change. Harvesting an incompatible crop before it dies is limited to the outgoing season; clearing dead plants and replanting can be repeated each year.

Common mistakes

  • Waiting until after the transition to harvest an incompatible crop can lose its produce; collect it before the calendar turns.
  • Removing every plant can destroy crops that still suit the new season; check compatibility first.
  • Planting seeds for the outgoing season after the transition risks wasting them; choose a crop suited to the current season.

When to stop or switch

Finish when each tile either holds a living crop suited to the current season or is cleared for a planned planting. Resume routine watering and harvest checks.
