Where to farm
A Rain Barrel for clean water, or a map water object or seawater source for water that may need purification; find a Canteen through map loot.
A Canteen is useful because it can collect water from seawater, map water objects or Rain Barrels. The condition of the source matters: Rain Barrels provide clean water, while dirty water can be purified with tablets. This route is about carrying and checking water safely; it does not assume that every map has the same water objects or loot placements.
A reachable Rain Barrel or water source on the active map.
Purification Tablets if collecting dirty water.
Obtain a Canteen from a suitable loot location on your map and keep it accessible.
Identify whether your planned source is a Rain Barrel or another water object before filling.
Use the Canteen at the source to collect water; seawater and other map sources may be dirty.
If the contents are dirty, use Purification Tablets according to the in-game item interaction.
Open inventory and check the Canteen’s water condition before drinking.
Carry enough purified water for the trip and refill at a known safe source when available.
Return to base and retain the Canteen for the next supply cycle.

Rain Barrels are the supported clean-water source in this route.
Keep tablets with your water kit if your usual source produces dirty water.
Repeat, collect and use
Refill the Canteen as supplies are consumed. Collection can be repeated, but clean water availability depends on access to a Rain Barrel; dirty sources require tablets each time.
Common mistakes
Drinking without checking condition: inspect the Canteen after filling.
Treating seawater as clean: purify dirty water with tablets.
Assuming every map has the same water objects: identify sources on the selected map.
When to stop or switch
Stop collecting once the Canteen supply is adequate for your outing; switch to a Rain Barrel when available if tablet stock is low.
