Iron is a key material for the next weapon tier and later crafting. A focused mine trip can stock the furnace while you advance through Dunley.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Haunted Iron Mine, Dunley Farmlands. Iron nodes and containers elsewhere in Dunley can supplement a run; the Iron Cave is an alternative when the mine is contested.
The Haunted Iron Mine concentrates Iron Ore in one dangerous location. Bring a weapon tier that can mine the nodes, clear enough space to work, and leave when the haul or threat makes staying impractical. Smelt the ore at your castle and spend the resulting iron on the recipes currently unlocked to you.

GET STARTED
How to farm
Before you go
Reach Dunley Farmlands and bring a Merciless Copper weapon or a stronger mining tier.
Bring combat gear suited to hostile undead and enough inventory room for ore.
Have a castle Furnace ready to process the haul.
Travel to the Haunted Iron Mine and assess the entrance and nearby enemies before committing to the interior.
Clear a nearby safe pocket so enemies are less likely to interrupt mining.
Mine exposed Iron Ore nodes with a qualifying weapon tier.
Check nearby barrels and chests while moving between veins; their contents can supplement the node haul.
If you encounter a large Iron Deposit, do not assume your normal weapon can break it; those deposits have a higher requirement.
Return to the castle when your inventory is filling or danger is rising, then put ore into the Furnace.
Use the processed iron on available weapon and crafting recipes as your Blood Altar progression unlocks them.
Farming tips
The mine is concentrated, but it can be contested on PvP servers; use the Iron Cave or incidental Dunley iron if the main route is unsafe.
Treat large deposits as a separate mining challenge. Do not spend time attacking one unless you meet its higher requirement or have another supported way to break it.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat trips as needed; exposed world resources respawn. Smelt each haul at the castle, then retain enough iron for the recipes you plan to craft.
Common mistakes
Entering without a Merciless Copper tier or better weapon: check the mining requirement before leaving home.
Staying after the pack becomes dangerous: retreat with a partial haul rather than losing time and cargo.
Confusing large deposits with ordinary nodes: move on unless you can meet their separate requirement.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have enough iron for the next gear or crafting goal, or switch to another Dunley activity if the mine is too contested.
