WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Exposed copper deposits in Black Forest hills.

Copper gathering is a Black Forest prospecting and transport job. Find a deposit, mine it in manageable loads, and smelt the ore before making bronze with tin. Under normal settings, standard wooden portals block copper ore and copper bars alike, so smelting does not make the load portal-compatible. In early progression, when you do not have Portal – Stone or permissive world settings, haul both ore and bars physically by foot, cart, or ship. Decide what you plan to craft first so the trip has a useful stopping point and heavy ore does not pile up without a purpose.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Defeat Eikthyr to craft an Antler Pickaxe or better; copper does not require a Bronze Pickaxe.
  • Bring food, a weapon, and enough inventory space for ore and stone.
  • Plan a physical route to a Smelter, or use an applicable Portal – Stone or permissive world portal setting if available.
  1. Search Black Forest hills for exposed copper deposits and mark promising locations on your map.
  2. Choose a deposit with room to work, then clear nearby threats before mining.
  3. Mine the deposit with an Antler Pickaxe or better and collect copper ore and useful stone.
  4. Move ore toward a Smelter in manageable loads. Early on, use a physical route by foot, cart, or ship; standard wooden portals block ore.
  5. Smelt copper ore into copper bars, keeping track of the amount available for crafting. Standard wooden portals block bars too, so continue hauling physically unless you have an applicable exception.
  6. Gather tin separately from Black Forest shorelines and smelt it into bars, using the same transport rules.
  7. At a Forge, combine copper and tin into bronze, then make the recipes on your equipment plan.

Farming tips

  • A local smelting setup can reduce the amount of raw ore you need to carry, but bars still cannot pass through standard wooden portals under normal settings.
  • Track copper and tin separately so you can gather the metal that limits your next bronze batch.
  • Portal – Stone and permissive world portal modifiers can allow restricted metals; the departure portal must support the items.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat at other deposits when you need more copper. Each deposit is finite, but additional deposits can be found elsewhere in the world.

Common mistakes

  • Trying to portal copper ore or bars through a standard wooden portal under normal settings; haul them physically in early progression.
  • Mining a large load without a return plan; stage transport or processing before the ore fills your inventory.
  • Gathering only copper for a bronze goal; check your tin supply before making another trip.

When to stop or switch

Stop when your copper bars cover the bronze recipes you currently plan to make; switch to tin gathering if it is the limiting metal.
