Tin Ore

Tin combines with copper at a Forge to make bronze, completing an early metal-production chain.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Black Forest shorelines and water edges.

Tin is found along Black Forest water edges. Mark the nodes as you travel and collect a haul sized for a specific bronze batch. Compare tin and copper stocks first, since neither metal can replace the other in bronze production. Under normal settings, standard wooden portals block both tin ore and smelted tin bars, so processing alone does not let you portal the metal. Early in progression, without Portal – Stone or permissive world settings, plan to move ore and bars physically by foot, cart, or ship.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • An Antler Pickaxe or better; a Bronze Pickaxe is not required.
  • Black Forest access, food, and a weapon for the trip.
  • Cart or boat capacity and a physical route to a Smelter, unless an applicable portal exception is available.
  1. Follow the Black Forest shoreline and inspect water edges for tin nodes.
  2. Mark each node on your map so you can return without repeating the search.
  3. Clear nearby enemies before mining, especially where a narrow shore limits retreat.
  4. Break the tin nodes with an Antler Pickaxe or better and collect the ore.
  5. Check your copper stock and gather copper on the same trip if it supports your bronze plan.
  6. Transport ore physically to a Smelter in early progression. Standard wooden portals block ore under normal settings.
  7. Smelt tin and copper into bars, then take both to a Forge and combine them into bronze. Bars remain blocked by standard wooden portals; move them physically unless Portal – Stone or world settings permit passage and the departure portal supports them.

Farming tips

  • Use a boat for ore when the shoreline is navigable; a cart is useful on a connected land route.
  • Keep separate stock counts for tin and copper, then target whichever metal falls short.
  • Smelting is for processing, not a standard wooden portal workaround.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat along other Black Forest shores when more tin is needed. Individual nodes are finite, but additional deposits can be found elsewhere.

Common mistakes

  • Searching far inland first; prioritize Black Forest coasts and water margins.
  • Trying to portal tin ore or bars through a standard wooden portal under normal settings; haul them physically in early progression.
  • Leaving without enough copper for the intended bronze batch; compare both metal stocks before returning.

When to stop or switch

Stop when your tin bars cover the bronze batch you intend to make, then gather copper or move to another progression need.
