Before you go
- Initial flax from a Fuling village or field.
- A Cultivator and open cultivated ground in the Plains.
- A defended plot and storage for planting stock.
Farming steps
- Scout a Fuling village or field and choose a safe exit route before approaching.
- Clear a manageable area of guards and collect flax from the field or available storage.
- Return to a secure Plains plot and till soil with the Cultivator.
- Plant some harvested flax directly, leaving room between plants and open sky above.
- Read plant status if growth fails and correct crowding, overhead cover, or biome suitability.
- Harvest mature flax and set aside a portion for the next planting cycle.
- Use surplus flax for recipes that require it and store extra for future crafting.
- A defended shared plot can make barley and flax farm visits easier to combine.
- Move planting stock to a separate chest before using flax in crafting.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat while flax is reserved for planting. Each crop batch is harvested once and must be replanted.
Common mistakes
- Looking for a separate flax seed: plant the harvested flax item itself.
- Trying to grow flax elsewhere: use Plains soil.
- Crafting with the full harvest: retain planting stock first.
When to stop or switch
Stop expanding the plot when harvests cover current recipes and leave enough flax to restart the next batch.
