WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

The crafting and inventory panels in the Keep.

Bright Dust is a persistent crafting material obtained by salvaging unwanted Veteran equipment. Its main supported use here is upgrading an Exotic item to Veteran rarity, which lets you improve an eligible item instead of waiting for the exact red drop. Veteran equipment is rare, so decide whether a piece is genuinely surplus before dismantling it; salvage is an irreversible conversion of that item.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Own a Veteran (red) item you are willing to dismantle.
  • Identify whether it is a duplicate or otherwise unnecessary for your heroes.
  • Have an Exotic item in mind for the five-dust upgrade, if upgrading is your goal.
  1. Open your inventory or the Keep’s crafting panel and locate the unwanted Veteran item.
  2. Check its slot, properties, and whether another hero or build could use it.
  3. Select salvage and confirm the Veteran item conversion.
  4. Verify that Bright Dust was added to your materials.
  5. Repeat only with genuinely surplus Veteran gear until you have the amount needed.
  6. Open the crafting panel and inspect the Exotic-to-Veteran upgrade recipe before spending.
  7. Apply the upgrade to the selected Exotic item when the recipe and target are correct.

Farming tips

  • Five Bright Dust are required to upgrade an Exotic item to Veteran rarity.
  • Check the current crafting recipe for DLC weapon costs before committing dust, since availability depends on the unlocked blueprint.

Repeat, collect and use

This is a repeatable conversion while spare Veteran items are available. Each salvage consumes one item; the supply is limited by your drops, not by a renewable mission node.

Common mistakes

  • Salvaging a red item before checking whether another hero uses it; review your loadouts first.
  • Expecting Bright Dust from ordinary Exotic salvage; the described source is unwanted Veteran equipment.
  • Spending dust before choosing a target; inspect the recipe and intended item first.

When to stop or switch

Stop salvaging once you have the dust needed for the planned upgrade, or when remaining Veteran items may still serve a build.
