Core Orbs support Limit Break upgrades, and the region of a Volatile hunt determines its orb type.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
The Volatile Kemono quest listings. Choose a listed hunt in the region associated with the Core Orb required by your equipment.
To collect a particular Core Orb, begin at the Forge and work backward from the equipment cost. Core Orbs mainly come from successful Volatile Kemono hunts; the type depends on the region where the hunt takes place. Select a Volatile quest listed in the matching region, complete it, and check the rewards and inventory. Ordinary Kemono hunts do not replace this route. Once you have the needed material, return to the Forge and apply it to the weapon or armor piece you chose. Use the same region check again whenever a later upgrade asks for a different type.
Have access to the region associated with the required Core Orb.
Have an eligible weapon or armor Limit Break cost to check.
Open the Forge and select the weapon or armor you intend to upgrade.
Inspect its Limit Break cost and note the Core Orb type required.
Open the Volatile Kemono quest listings and check the region shown for available targets.
Select a Volatile hunt in the matching region.
Prepare for that Kemono and complete the hunt successfully.
Collect the rewards and verify whether the required orb type is in your inventory.
Return to the Forge and spend matching orbs on the selected upgrade.
Farming tips
Choose by the quest’s region, since the target name alone does not establish the orb type.
Check the Forge again before spending so the selected equipment and its current cost still match your plan.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat available Volatile hunts in the matching region when you need more Core Orbs. Successful Volatile hunts are a main source, but an orb is not guaranteed on every hunt.
Common mistakes
Taking a quest in the wrong region: compare its listing with the orb required at the Forge.
Hunting an ordinary Kemono: choose a Volatile quest specifically.
Assuming every successful hunt supplies an orb: inspect each reward and continue as needed.
When to stop or switch
Stop once you have enough of the correct type for the planned enhancement, or switch regions if another item requires a different type.
