Turning carried Qi into Virtue levels before a hard attempt protects that progression from death and improves the attributes you choose.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Any Battle Flag before the route or boss attempt where you could lose carried Qi.
Genuine Qi is your leveling currency, and the Battle Flag’s Level Up menu converts it into Virtue increases. Since unspent Qi is lost on death, make a flag visit part of your preparation before bosses and other dangerous pushes. Choose a Virtue for the attribute effect you need rather than spending blindly.
Reach a Battle Flag with the Level Up menu available.
Know which attribute would help your current setup.
At the flag, open Level Up and review your current Five Phases Virtues.
Choose Wood if you need more HP, or Earth if you need more equipment weight capacity.
For other Virtues, read the displayed effect and select the one that supports your weapon, Spirit management, spell use, or deflection approach.
Confirm the level increase and repeat only while you have enough Qi and the next point serves your build.
Check the resulting attributes and equipment load before leaving the flag.
Enter the boss route with the Qi already spent, then reassess at the next safe flag.
Farming tips
The official manual describes several Virtue effects; use the in-game attribute display to confirm the effect relevant to your character.
A balanced point that solves a current equipment or survival problem can be more useful than chasing a distant build target.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat whenever you have enough Genuine Qi and reach a Battle Flag before a risky stretch. This is a spending routine, not a farm; Qi comes from enemies and certain items.
Common mistakes
Leaving a large Qi balance for after the boss: level first, since death can remove carried Qi.
Raising a Virtue without checking its effect: inspect the displayed attribute change before confirming.
Assuming Earth directly increases damage: use the menu’s effect description and spend for the attribute it actually improves.
When to stop or switch
Stop spending when the next point does not address a current build need, or when your Qi is exhausted; resume after earning more.
