Some items grant Genuine Qi when used. That makes them a reserve for a shortfall between your carried balance and the cost of a level. Use them when you can reach a Battle Flag safely, spend the converted currency on a useful Virtue increase, and avoid carrying the new balance into an unnecessary risk.
Before you go Own an item that grants Genuine Qi. Be able to reach a Battle Flag safely. Have a Virtue level in mind that you want to purchase. Open Inventory and identify the item that grants Genuine Qi; check its displayed value before using it. If a flag is nearby, travel there first rather than consuming it in the middle of a dangerous route. Use the Qi item from Inventory and note the updated carried balance. At the flag, choose Level Up and inspect the Virtue effects available to your build. Spend the added Qi on a useful attribute increase, then check the new value before leaving. Keep any remaining Qi item in reserve if using it now would not complete a level or serve an immediate need. Farming tips Genuine Qi from items joins carried currency, so it is exposed to the same death loss until spent. Use an item only when you have a practical use for the resulting Qi; the item is a stored resource, not a permanent level by itself. Repeat, collect and use Repeat when you have more Qi items and a meaningful level to buy. Item supply is limited by what you collect; this is not an enemy respawn farm.
Common mistakes Using an item before checking its value: inspect its description and compare it to the level cost. Consuming it deep in a dangerous area: get to a flag first when possible and bank the currency promptly. Expecting the item to level you automatically: use Level Up at a Battle Flag to convert Qi into Virtue points. When to stop or switch Stop consuming items once the next level is not useful or your remaining item stock is better saved for a later cost.
