WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm Small Ancient Lands portals in Albion’s open world; Patch 3 made them more frequent in Yellow Zones.
Small Ancient Lands portals provide access for solo players and smaller groups to Dragonfire’s island expedition. You move between objectives by using Leygate Keystones, but activated gates are visible to other parties. The expedition has different loot exposure by location and can end with either an outer exit or the central Fire Drake route.
Before you go A solo-ready or small-party build suited to the portal’s intended group size. Consumables and gear matched to the in-game portal and loot rules. Enough inventory space to carry rewards without turning every island into a risky haul. Locate a small Ancient Lands portal and check its indicated group size and current zone risk. Enter with a set whose loss would be manageable under the instance’s rules. Clear an island objective by defeating the required share of its mobs; marmots do not count. Take the resulting Leygate Keystone and inspect the available routes. Activate a gate to continue inward, or remove the Keystone and choose another route where possible. Collect rewards and watch for rival groups that can see an activated gate. Use an outer portal to leave, or continue toward the central objective if the shared Drake goal is complete. Farming tips Spirit Essence improves the current run but disappears when you leave, so decide whether to spend the bonus on further progress or exit. Treat activated Leygates as visible signals to other parties, not private passages. Repeat, collect and use Repeatable: enter a new portal run; island objectives and run-bound Spirit Essence reset with the expedition.
Common mistakes Counting marmots toward island completion; clear eligible mobs instead. Assuming a small portal makes the expedition private; other players may still enter or contest routes. Carrying a valuable load deeper without checking exit options; use an outer portal when the risk becomes excessive. When to stop or switch Exit when your reward goal is met, Spirit Essence is at risk of being lost in a likely defeat, or rivals make further progress unattractive.
