WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm Asteroid fields in sectors that list your target material, with a reachable Resource Depot for refining the raw ore.
R-Mining turrets produce raw ore that must be carried to a Resource Depot for refining. This makes the turret and cargo hold a linked farming setup: the ship needs usable R-Mining equipment and enough room to bring a worthwhile load back. Use this route for direct asteroid runs, and judge the setup by the usable ore returned after the depot trip rather than by time spent mining alone.
Before you go An R-Mining turret fitted to the mining ship. Cargo capacity for raw ore and a reachable Resource Depot. A target ore visible in the sector’s material listing. Weapons or an escort if the selected sector’s threat requires them. Pick the ore needed for a specific construction or upgrade goal. Check the galaxy map for an asteroid sector listing that ore and choose one the ship can reach safely. Before departure, confirm the installed turret is an R-Mining turret and reserve cargo space for ore. Enter the field and mine asteroids with the ship’s R-Mining turret. Watch cargo use during the run and head back while the depot trip remains practical. At the Resource Depot, use its refining service to process the raw ore you collected. Keep the refined material needed for the build; sell only excess after checking the offered terms. Adjust the next run’s cargo allowance or sector choice based on what you actually returned. Farming tips Raw ore occupies cargo before refining, so plan the return leg as part of the run. Turret efficiency affects mining output; compare your returned haul when evaluating a loadout. Repeat, collect and use Repeatable as long as suitable asteroid sectors and depot access remain available; each haul varies, and refining is required for raw ore.
Common mistakes Treating raw ore as ready-to-use construction material: refine it at a Resource Depot first. Filling the hold without leaving room for a return trip: turn back before cargo makes the depot leg impractical. Mixing this run with an unverified turret setup: confirm the fitted weapon is R-Mining before mining. When to stop or switch Stop when the depot has refined enough material for the planned build, or switch sectors or loadout if the returned haul no longer justifies the trip.
