Sledge is a named boss and the specific source associated with Sledge’s Shotgun. Defeating him gives a targeted chance to obtain the weapon, while each drop roll remains uncertain.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Headstone Mine, Rust Commons West. Sledge is at the end of the mine.
Use this route when you want Sledge’s Shotgun rather than a general chest sweep. Sledge is found at the end of Headstone Mine in Rust Commons West. Clear the mine route, defeat him, and inspect his loot before resetting. If the shotgun does not appear, save and quit to reset the boss and try again. A run can still be worthwhile if another item improves your loadout, but do not treat the named weapon as a guaranteed reward.
Bring a reliable combat loadout and enough ammunition for the mine.
Make room in your inventory for a shotgun or other useful drops.
Travel to Headstone Mine and enter the area.
Fight through the mine toward its far end, clearing enemies that block the route.
Engage Sledge and keep attacking until he is defeated.
Inspect the drops for Sledge’s Shotgun and compare it with your current weapons.
Pick up the shotgun if it appears and suits your build; collect other useful items as space allows.
If you want another roll, save and quit after the encounter, then continue the character.
Return to Headstone Mine and repeat the route to reach Sledge again.
Farming tips
Compare the shotgun’s level and performance with your current weapon before deciding to keep it.
Sell or store unwanted gear before another run so a good roll has space.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeatable by saving and quitting after the boss encounter, then returning to Headstone Mine. Sledge’s Shotgun is a targeted drop, not a guaranteed result on every kill.
Common mistakes
Searching the wrong zone: Sledge is at Headstone Mine’s end, not a separate loot chest location.
Assuming every kill drops the shotgun: check the pool and repeat only if another roll is worthwhile.
Entering with a full inventory: make room before the fight so you can collect the target.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you obtain a shotgun that meets your needs or when repeated runs are no longer improving your loadout. Continue the campaign if a higher-level weapon would soon replace it.
