Mining areas define where towers and their assigned vehicles can work. Correct coverage and tile designation turn a visible resource patch into a usable mining operation.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
The Mine Control Tower control area over a target excavation zone on the Home Island.
Set up a Mine Control Tower around a reachable section of terrain, then mark the work and assign the vehicles that carry it out. Keep tower coverage, designated tiles, vehicle assignment and receiving storage connected as separate checks.
Vehicles & Mining research and a Mine Control Tower.
A target area within tower coverage.
An assigned excavator, truck and reachable destination for excavated material.
Choose the resource or terrain you intend to excavate and plan a tower location with coverage over it.
Place the tower and edit its rectangular control area to include the planned work.
Mark specific tiles as mining designations within that control area.
Assign an available excavator and truck to the tower.
Check that the excavator can reach the designation and that truck routes reach a destination with capacity.
If vehicles idle, inspect designation coverage, vehicle assignment, route access and destination fullness.
Adjust the coverage or work area when the intended tiles cannot be reached.
Farming tips
The control area only organizes coverage; it does not itself create mining work.
Start with a focused designation so you can verify the route and destination before enlarging the mine.
Repeat, collect and use
Create more designations or adjust the same area as mining needs change. Each finite resource deposit can only support work while accessible material remains.
Common mistakes
Marking tiles outside the tower’s area: edit coverage or use a tower that covers them.
Expecting unmarked tiles to be excavated: explicitly designate the terrain.
Adding vehicles to solve a full-storage problem: free destination capacity or redirect output first.
When to stop or switch
Remove or pause designations when the target is exhausted, storage cannot accept more material, or the current excavation has no useful downstream demand.
