Oil Rig outposts discovered on the World Map, beyond the Home Island’s surface mining area.
Use the World Map to find an Oil Rig, then repair it and arrange shipping to return crude oil for processing. The Advanced Diesel research route is a progression requirement for this operation. Deposits may be finite or affected by world settings, so verify the outpost’s displayed status before relying on its output.

Explore the World Map until you discover an Oil Rig.
Inspect the outpost’s condition, requested repair cargo and displayed resource information.
Prepare the requested items on the island and load them onto a suitable ship.
Send the ship to the outpost and complete its repair before expecting extraction.
Establish the available outpost shipping or cargo route to return crude oil to the island.
Connect incoming crude to suitable storage or a refinery, then confirm deliveries arrive.

Check the outpost status and world settings before estimating its remaining supply.
Keep crude reserved for the processing chain you intend to run, and monitor its stock as deliveries arrive.
Repeat, collect and use
Shipping can deliver crude repeatedly while the repaired rig has extractable oil and the route remains operational. Repair is a one-time setup task for each damaged rig; the deposit may be finite, depending on the outpost and world settings.
Common mistakes
Planning the outpost before the Advanced Diesel research route is available: complete that progression gate first.
Expecting crude before repairs are complete: load the requested cargo and finish the repair.
Treating a finite deposit as permanent supply: track the outpost’s status and reduce demand or find another source as it runs down.
When to stop or switch
Adjust the shipping route or refinery input when the rig is depleted, deliveries no longer meet demand, or crude storage is full.
