WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Dog routes near the Lost Bastille’s Exile Holding Cells and Servant’s Quarters bonfires; Belfry Luna is another Scholar-era location.

Stray dogs around Lost Bastille and Belfry Luna can drop Human Effigies. Clear the dogs on a short route near an activated bonfire, check every drop, then rest and repeat while they continue to respawn. Effigies can be used to reverse hollowing and restore human form; they can also be burned at a bonfire for an area effect that suppresses most online activity. Since the drops are random and enemies can eventually despawn after repeated kills, farm toward a practical reserve rather than expecting one kill to solve the shortage. Item-discovery equipment may help, but survival matters more than a gear swap.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Reach Lost Bastille and activate a bonfire near the dogs.
  • A weapon that can clear the dogs without being surrounded.
  • Optional item-discovery equipment.
  1. Rest at a nearby bonfire and choose the closest cluster of dogs you can reach safely.
  2. Equip item-discovery gear if available, then approach so only a manageable number of dogs engage.
  3. Defeat the dogs and check the ground and inventory for Human Effigies.
  4. Continue through the short route, avoiding unrelated enemies that make the loop costly.
  5. Return to the bonfire and rest to restore dogs while they remain eligible to respawn.
  6. Repeat the clear-and-check loop, keeping a count of Effigies actually collected.
  7. Use an Effigy from inventory when you need to reverse hollowing, or keep it in reserve.

Farming tips

  • A shield or controlled pull can prevent several dogs from interrupting attacks at once.
  • Use Effigies for the effect you intend: reversing hollowing restores human form, while burning one at a bonfire changes online activity in that area.

Repeat, collect and use

Dogs can be farmed while they respawn normally, but repeated kills may despawn them. An Ascetic can restore eligible enemies at permanent higher local intensity; the drops remain random.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming every dog drops an Effigy; check each kill and plan for variable results.
  • Running into a pack and getting staggered; draw a smaller group or retreat to a clear space.
  • Burning an Effigy when you meant to reverse hollowing; choose the correct inventory or bonfire action.

When to stop or switch

Stop when your Effigy reserve covers the planned human-form uses, or when the dogs stop respawning and another source is safer.
