Ascetics can restore eligible enemies and bosses for repeat farming, but every use permanently increases local bonfire intensity.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Use at the bonfire associated with the target content, such as The Place Unbeknownst for Giant Lord or Dragon Aerie for eligible lizard spawns.
A Bonfire Ascetic is a costly reset tool: burn it at the bonfire linked to the area you want to repeat, and that bonfire’s intensity rises permanently. Most enemies, bosses, and eligible corpse items return, but not every reward does. In Scholar, the Giant Lord can return at The Place Unbeknownst, and Crystal Lizards can return in Dragon Aerie; Giant Souls in memories and some metal-chest or unique pickups do not reset. Decide which exact reward you need before burning an Ascetic, because stronger enemies affect later visits and carry into subsequent cycles.
Know which bonfire governs the target boss, enemy, or pickup.
Be prepared for the area to become harder permanently.
Identify the exact target reward and locate its linked bonfire.
Check the bonfire’s current intensity and decide whether the stronger next cycle is acceptable.
Rest at that bonfire and select the option to burn the Ascetic.
Confirm the use, then travel through the affected area and check that the eligible target has returned.
Defeat the boss or enemy, or collect the eligible item, and verify the reward in inventory.
For another attempt, obtain another Ascetic and repeat only if the next intensity remains manageable.
Stop using Ascetics when the desired stock is reached or the area becomes too dangerous.
Farming tips
Use The Place Unbeknownst for Giant Lord resets and Dragon Aerie for eligible Crystal Lizard respawns; the reset is tied to location.
Scholar Ascetics do not restore the two Twinkling Titanite pickups near Place Unbeknownst, and Giant Souls in memories do not respawn.
Repeat, collect and use
Each reset consumes one Ascetic and permanently raises that bonfire’s intensity. Eligible content can be farmed again, but unique items, some containers, and memory Giant Souls are exceptions.
Common mistakes
Burning an Ascetic at the wrong bonfire; verify the target’s local bonfire before spending it.
Assuming every chest or pickup returns; distinguish eligible corpse items from metal chests and unique memory items.
Ignoring carryover difficulty; stop before intensity makes the route unsafe, especially if you plan to enter another game cycle.
When to stop or switch
Stop as soon as the target reward is collected in sufficient quantity, or when the next intensity increase would make the area unreliable.
