WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Open the Director’s Raids and Dungeons node, choose an owned raid, and inspect its encounter Feats and reward-grade display before launching.
Raid Feats provide a repeatable way to improve an encounter payout by completing its listed combat or challenge conditions. Update 9.7.0 separates Standard encounters, which can continue earning weekly tiered rewards without Feats, from Feat completions, whose grade-based reward bundle is farmable. This route is for players who want additional raid drops from successful encounter execution; it is separate from chasing the featured raid’s weekly Director Challenge or its lockout rewards. Check the current encounter screen before building around a particular Feat, since the displayed conditions determine whether the group can complete it consistently.
Access to the selected raid and a fireteam able to complete its encounters.
A specific weapon or armor target from that raid’s visible loot pool.
Enough coordination to complete at least one displayed Feat without risking the clear.
Choose the raid and encounter that contains the item you are targeting. Verify the reward preview and access requirements in the Director; do not assume a raid’s pool is shared with another activity.
Open the encounter’s Feat panel and read the actual conditions and the reward-grade contribution shown there. Pick a condition your group can reliably complete, rather than stacking unfamiliar mechanics on a first clear.
Agree on roles and callouts before starting. If the Feat changes how the team handles enemies, movement, or timing, assign that responsibility explicitly so it does not get lost during damage phases.
Launch the Standard encounter and complete its mechanics while satisfying the selected Feat. A Standard clear remains a valid route to weekly tiered rewards even when you choose not to attempt a Feat.
After completion, inspect the encounter payout and note the resulting grade. Bungie’s update lists the farmable grade bundles from Grade 0 through Grade 5; higher grades add or improve tiered drops, with Grade 3 awarding two Tier 5 items and Grade 5 awarding three.
If the encounter permits another farmable completion, repeat only after checking that the target and Feat are still shown as eligible. Change the selected Feat or simplify the execution if the last attempt failed its condition.
Compare each drop against the target and keep only useful rolls or armor pieces. If the target is not in this encounter’s displayed pool, change the encounter or raid rather than spending more clears on an unrelated reward table.
Farming tips
Use the in-game Feat panel as the authority for the current encounter conditions and reward grade.
A repeatable Feat payout is useful only when the encounter contains the item you want; verify the pool first.
Keep a stable team role plan so a reward bonus does not turn a reliable clear into a failed attempt.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the encounter while its reward preview confirms farmable Feat payouts and you still want a drop from that encounter’s pool. Check the panel again after changing raids, modes, or weekly activity selections.
Common mistakes
Assuming every raid challenge or Director Challenge is farmable; the weekly Director Challenge has a separate lockout.
Ignoring the Feat condition and expecting a higher grade from an ordinary clear.
Repeating an encounter whose visible loot pool does not contain the target.
Taking on several difficult Feats at once when a reliable lower-grade clear better serves the farm.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have the target, the encounter stops showing an eligible repeat payout, or your group can no longer complete the chosen Feat reliably. For a weekly Director Challenge reward, stop after its displayed eligibility is consumed.
