WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Ship outfitting and Detailed Surface Scanner planetary results, followed by the selected Planetary Mining Location.

A productive surface-mining attempt begins before landing: detect a Planetary Mining Location with the Detailed Surface Scanner, make sure the Rhino has its mining tool suite, and leave enough room to collect the output. The September update lists new commodities and confirms the Rhino's deposit scanner, refinery and rig deployment module. It does not give a complete commodity sale workflow or promise that a location marker will contain a chosen mineral. Use the equipment and cargo interfaces to determine what the site actually yields, then plan a return to a market only after verifying stored commodities.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • A ship equipped with a Detailed Surface Scanner.
  • A Vodel Rhino SRV with deposit scanner, refinery and mining rig module.
  • Sufficient cargo capacity for the intended surface run.
  • A landable planet with a detected mining location.
  1. Check ship outfitting and confirm the Detailed Surface Scanner is available.
  2. Confirm the Rhino is aboard and its equipment panel lists the deposit scanner, refinery and rig deployment module.
  3. Scan a landable planet with the DSS and identify a Planetary Mining Location in the results.
  4. Select a marker and travel to the surface; do not choose a market destination based solely on the marker.
  5. Deploy the Rhino and scan an available deposit with the vehicle's live scanner prompts.
  6. Use the rig module only after checking the deposit interaction and follow the on-screen extraction status.
  7. Before leaving, inspect refinery and cargo displays to learn which commodities were actually collected.

Farming tips

  • The update's commodity list includes several new surface-mining commodities, but a marker alone does not identify its contents.
  • Confirm cargo output before setting a sale plan; the documented tool list does not specify where each output is traded.

Repeat, collect and use

Preparation is reusable for each trip. Repeat the scan, inspect and collect loop at another usable location; for any particular deposit, respect depletion and recovery as indicated by the live site state.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming location detection guarantees a specific commodity; scan the deposit first.
  • Forgetting cargo capacity and discovering you cannot keep the processed output; check space before deployment.
  • Leaving the Rhino's refinery unverified; review stored output before leaving and plan the next destination from actual cargo.

When to stop or switch

Stop preparing when the Rhino tools and cargo space are confirmed, or switch to a different planet if the detected site cannot support the run you planned.
