WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
System map and DSS results for landable Odyssey bodies with biological signals and no First Footfall tag.
A first-footfall survey is a target-selection method, not a separate repeatable reward mission. On Odyssey worlds, map biological signals and consider landing where the body has no First Footfall record. That state is a clue that the surface may be less visited, but it does not guarantee that a species is unlogged or that a particular payout will apply. The actual collection route remains a complete Artemis sample set for each species, sold at Vista Genomics. This is useful when planning an exploration trip because it combines exploration scanning and surface biology without inventing a credit rate.

Review bodies with biological signals and confirm each is landable.
Check the system map for the First Footfall field before committing to a landing.
Map the strongest candidate with the DSS and inspect where its biology regions appear.
Land and use the Artemis sampler to collect a complete, genetically distinct set for one species.
Finish other desired species on that body, then check whether the live record reflects your discovery status.
Sell completed records at Vista Genomics and use the result to decide whether to continue outward.
Farming tips
Treat a missing First Footfall tag as a candidate-selection signal, not a guarantee of first-log biology credit.
Travel farther from busy routes if nearby bodies are already recorded, but use actual map state to choose targets.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the selection and collection loop on new eligible worlds. First footfall is limited to an unvisited body state; once another commander has recorded it, that target cannot provide the same first-footfall status.
Common mistakes
Assuming no footfall tag guarantees a first species log; check the live biology record and result.
Landing before checking that the world is suitable and landable; screen targets in the system map first.
Leaving an incomplete sample set to chase another planet; complete the current species before switching.
When to stop or switch
Stop prioritizing first-footfall targets when nearby candidates are already visited or the extra travel no longer suits your goal; continue ordinary biology sampling or return to sell.
