PC / Global, Anniversary Edition and current Creations; vanilla-compatible routes unless labeled
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

A connected settlement garden and any cooking station.

Vegetable starch turns settlement-grown crops and purified water into adhesive. It is a useful long-term supply because the ingredients can be harvested again, instead of relying only on scavenged junk or vendor stock. The key is to keep all three crops and water available, then cook the starch when a crafting project needs it.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Access to a settlement workshop and cooking station.
  • Corn, mutfruit, and tato planted within the settlement.
  • Purified water available for cooking.
  1. Choose a settlement where you can manage a garden and reach a cooking station.
  2. Plant corn, mutfruit, and tato in workshop range.
  3. Assign settlers to tend the plots if you have settlers available.
  4. Harvest each crop when it is ready and take the produce to the cooking station.
  5. Collect purified water from your supplies or settlement storage.
  6. At the cooking station, craft vegetable starch from the listed ingredients.
  7. Use the resulting adhesive at a weapon or armor workbench for the modification you planned.

Farming tips

  • Check your crop and water inventory before starting a large crafting session so you know which ingredient is limiting production.
  • Keep a reserve of starch or adhesive for the next upgrade instead of spending the entire batch on a low-priority mod.

Repeat, collect and use

Harvest the plots as crops become available, then cook another batch whenever you have the required ingredients. This is a renewable production loop, not an instant harvest.

Common mistakes

  • Planting only one or two of the required crops leaves the recipe incomplete; maintain corn, mutfruit, and tato together.
  • Assuming the garden supplies purified water can stall crafting; collect water separately.
  • Cooking all available starch immediately can leave no adhesive for a more useful upgrade; craft to match your planned work.

When to stop or switch

Pause cooking when you have enough adhesive for the upgrades you intend to make, then return when another crop harvest or crafting project makes the loop worthwhile.
