WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm Iron-bearing deposits along the north-side quarry and underground mine route, after access is unlocked.
Iron ore comes from mine and quarry routes whose access depends on progression and tools. A mining trip is only half the job: ore is bulky raw material that must be carried back and smelted at a Furnace before it becomes ingots. Confirm your access and furnace capacity before committing to a large haul.
Before you go A Pickaxe in usable condition. Progression that opens the quarry or mine route you plan to use. A Furnace and the ability to smelt ore. Inventory space for ore and the fuel or other inputs shown by your furnace recipe. Check the Technology menu and local route access to confirm the mine or quarry is available. Take a Pickaxe and clear inventory space before leaving the homestead. Follow the northern route to accessible iron-bearing deposits. Mine the deposits with the Pickaxe and collect the ore drops. Stop when your inventory or intended haul is full, then return to the yard. Load ore into the Furnace and select its iron-smelting recipe. Collect the resulting ingots and use them at the tool or station recipe that prompted the trip. Farming tips Plan the Furnace step before mining; raw ore does not directly replace ingots in crafting recipes. Carry only as much ore as you can process or store safely at home. Repeat, collect and use Mining and smelting are repeatable where deposits and access permit; the route and resource availability are progression dependent.
Common mistakes Arriving without a Pickaxe: bring the correct tool before taking the route. Expecting ore to serve as an ingot: smelt it first. Hauling more than can be stored or processed: clear space and check the Furnace recipe in advance. When to stop or switch Stop mining when your ingot requirement is met or storage is full; resume when a specific recipe needs more iron.
