Wood and Flitch

Wood processing turns logs and gathered branches into construction parts used across the homestead.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Trees around the homestead yard and forest paths, with processing at the Sawhorse and Carpenter’s Workbench.

This is a short resource chain: chop accessible trees with an Axe, bring logs home, then process them through woodworking stations. Flitch is an intermediate material, not a substitute for every log-based recipe. Keep the output matched to the Carpenter’s Workbench or other recipe that calls for it, and retain logs needed for higher-level wood products.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • An Axe for trees and branches.
  • Access to the Sawhorse and relevant woodworking recipes.
  • Inventory space for logs, branches, and processed parts.
  • A specific construction or crafting use for the material.
  1. Check the next woodworking recipe to identify whether it requires logs, branches, or Flitch.
  2. Take the Axe to accessible trees in the yard or nearby forest paths.
  3. Chop trees and collect the resulting logs and branches.
  4. Return to the homestead before your inventory is too full to carry the materials.
  5. Use the Sawhorse to process logs into Flitch when the recipe calls for it.
  6. Carry Flitch to the Carpenter’s Workbench and craft the required parts.
  7. Store remaining logs separately for recipes that use them unprocessed.

Farming tips

  • Read the destination recipe before converting logs; processing is not reversible.
  • Gather branches during a wood run so small wood requirements do not trigger another trip.

Repeat, collect and use

Tree gathering and woodworking are repeatable as accessible trees and materials permit; crafted outputs are consumed by their recipes.

Common mistakes

  • Turning every log into Flitch: keep logs for recipes that require them directly.
  • Bringing logs without checking the station chain: confirm the Sawhorse or Carpenter’s Workbench recipe first.
  • Leaving branches behind: collect them when useful for the planned build.

When to stop or switch

Stop chopping when the displayed construction or crafting need is covered; return when a new recipe requires wood stock.
