Improves the odds that item drops suit a chosen damage type, including affixes on Monster Infrequents.

PC / Global, with Ashes of Malmouth, Forgotten Gods and Fangs of Asterkarn
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Ascension Altar in Kurn, Asterkarn. The altar is available in the campaign; Ascendant Mode itself requires Fangs of Asterkarn and a level 100 character on Ultimate.

The center of Kurn’s Ascension Altar lets you spend a crafting material to bias item drops toward a damage type or pet gear. This is useful when your build has a clear equipment direction and you want to make campaign loot more relevant. The bias changes odds; it does not guarantee a particular item, prefix, or suffix. In the current 1.3-era game, Ascension modifiers can also appear on any item quality during Ascendant Mode, but this altar bias is a separate mechanic.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Reach Kurn in Asterkarn and have access to the Ascension Altar.
  • Bring the specific crafting material associated with your desired bias; for example, Ch’thonic Seal of Binding for Bleed or Manticore Eye for pet gear.
  • Use a character and difficulty that can handle the altar’s enemy-strength increase.
  1. Decide which damage type or pet focus your build needs before spending materials.
  2. Check the altar’s center circles to identify the matching material and its current effect.
  3. Insert one offering and review the resulting modifier and enemy increase.
  4. Travel through campaign areas you can clear comfortably and collect gear drops.
  5. Compare dropped items with your build, including Monster Infrequents whose normal loot bias may be overridden by the altar.
  6. Keep useful pieces and store or dismantle unwanted items according to your needs.
  7. Return to Kurn when you want to change the bias or stop using the effect.

Farming tips

  • Choose a bias for the item stats your build actually needs; a damage label alone does not make an item an upgrade.
  • The increased danger applies alongside the loot benefit, so use an offering only when your defenses can manage its added pressure.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat by returning to Kurn and supplying the desired material again as needed. This is a repeatable modifier, not a guaranteed item farm; each run yields ordinary variable loot.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting a guaranteed damage-specific item: the altar shifts odds, so continue evaluating each drop.
  • Assuming Monster Infrequents keep their usual bias: this altar effect can override an inherent MI loot bias.
  • Ignoring the threat increase: reduce the offering or switch it off if encounters become unsafe.

When to stop or switch

Stop spending that material when you have a usable upgrade or enough relevant drops to compare; switch the circle if the build’s equipment needs change.
