WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm Salazar’s lair in the Depraved Sanctuary, Act I. The encounter lies inside the sealed challenge dungeon entered with a Skeleton Key.
Salazar’s Sovereign Blade is a Monster Infrequent, so the reliable target is its named source: Salazar, Blade of Ch’thon. The blade is not guaranteed on every defeat, and any affixes on it are also variable. This is a focused early-game gear hunt rather than a broad loot route. If the weapon’s damage type or skill bonuses fit your build, repeat the dungeon; otherwise, use the run for its other drops and move on.
Before you go Reach the Depraved Sanctuary in Act I. Have a Skeleton Key for the dungeon entrance; the key is consumed when used. Bring a character capable of surviving the dungeon’s challenge enemies. Travel to the Depraved Sanctuary and locate the sealed entrance to Salazar’s lair. Use a Skeleton Key to open the entrance and enter the challenge dungeon. Fight through the dungeon, clearing enemies as needed to reach Salazar. Defeat Salazar, Blade of Ch’thon and inspect the loot for the Sovereign Blade. Compare the weapon’s base bonuses and rolled affixes with your current setup. Collect useful drops, then leave when finished; prepare another key before repeating. If the blade does not drop, decide whether another run is still worth the key and time. Farming tips A Monster Infrequent has a specific source but no guaranteed drop; budget for more than one attempt. Judge the blade by its affixes and build fit, not its name alone. Repeat, collect and use Repeatable while you have Skeleton Keys. Each run consumes one key, and the blade is not guaranteed.
Common mistakes Entering without a key: acquire and carry a Skeleton Key before going to the sealed entrance. Assuming one kill guarantees the blade: inspect the drop and repeat only if the target remains valuable. Keeping any blade automatically: compare its rolled stats to your build before replacing equipped gear. When to stop or switch Stop when you obtain a blade with useful affixes, outlevel its value, or decide the key cost is better spent on another dungeon.
