Gems add a separate valuable output to mining runs and should be collected cleanly so they can be carried to the appropriate buyer.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
At your claim, use the harvester output side and a sorting or catch arrangement that keeps gems apart from ore.
Gems can appear in claim dirt alongside ore. A harvester and sorting line let you collect them without relying on hand panning, but loose pieces can escape or mix with other output if the line is crowded. Build a simple collection point first, observe where gems land, then expand the belt arrangement only after the flow is clear.
Conveyor or a clear hand-collection area at the output.
Separate bucket or container for gems.
Place the harvester where the drill’s dirt output can enter it cleanly.
Connect the water supply and start the drill; confirm the harvester is processing dirt.
Watch the output closely to identify where valuable material emerges.
Route the output toward a clear belt or collection point and provide a separate catch container for gems.
Stop the line if pieces spill, then pick up loose gems and clear the area before restarting.
Carry the collected gems to the appropriate town buyer and sell them, or keep them if your current plan requires them.
Farming tips
Leave open space around the harvester and belt ends so you can reach spills and inspect the output.
Test the line with a small amount of production before leaving it running unattended.
Repeat, collect and use
Keep the drill and harvester running while the input, water, and collection path remain clear. Gather each gem batch from its catch point, then sell or store it before continuing.
Common mistakes
Letting the belt discharge onto an uncontained floor: add a catch area before running longer.
Expanding the line before observing output: test the basic route first and correct its collection points.
Ignoring a spill under the belt: pause production, retrieve loose gems, and clear the path.
When to stop or switch
Stop the line when the collection area is full, output is spilling, or you have enough gems for the current sale or stock goal; resume after clearing and checking the route.
