Where to farm
Workshop loadout at the Orbital Station before starting a prospect; deploy the plot at your surface base.
The Aeroponic Crop Plot is a Workshop item, so obtaining the unlock is only part of the setup. Select it in your loadout before starting a new prospect, then deploy and connect the required utilities on the surface. It is a separate route from building the mission's crafted greenhouse Crop Plots; confirm the item's current requirements before relying on it for a particular farm.

A new prospect launch where the plot can be selected in the loadout.

Open the Workshop and unlock or acquire the Aeroponic Crop Plot.
Before launching, add the plot to the prospector loadout for the intended prospect.
Start the prospect and retrieve the Workshop equipment from dropship cargo.
Place the plot at your base where you can reach it for planting and harvesting.
Connect or provide the utilities required by the plot's current setup.
Plant compatible seeds and check the crop status for any unmet growing needs.
Collect the harvest and reserve seeds for another planting where appropriate.

Plan the item before launch because the plot must be selected in the loadout for the new prospect.
Check the deployed plot's requirements and crop status rather than assuming it needs no utilities.
Repeat, collect and use
The item can be brought on another prospect when selected again and available through Workshop rules. Each crop cycle still requires seeds and suitable growing conditions.
Common mistakes
Launching without selecting the plot; it cannot be added retroactively to that dropship loadout.
Treating the plot as a complete farm without utilities or seeds; prepare its operating inputs.
Using the mission greenhouse instructions as though they automatically apply to this Workshop item; check this plot's own setup.
When to stop or switch
Stop expanding the setup when the plot supplies the crops needed for the prospect; avoid carrying another one unless the next prospect needs it.
