WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Workshop yard, using Planting Mode and prepared Straw Grid or Biocrust.
Use this route when you want Cactus Fruit from a prepared plot instead of relying solely on wild outings. The crop requires a seed, planting soil, and water. Check the planted crop’s status during yard rounds and harvest when it is ready; don’t plan the next batch around a fixed timer or yield.
A clear planting area matching the seed’s displayed footprint.
Water for crop care.
Acquire Cactus Seeds and keep them until a suitable plot is ready.
Clear a section of the Workshop yard and enter Planting Mode.
Prepare the area using Straw Grid or Biocrust.
Select the Cactus Seeds and check the required footprint before placing them.
Plant the seeds and water them through the planting controls.
Check progress during regular Workshop rounds and keep the plot watered as needed.
Harvest Cactus Fruit when the crop is ready and store it for food, recipes, or an order.
Farming tips
Plant only the space you can maintain with your available water; wild cacti remain a no-planter alternative.
Keep harvested fruit separate from seeds so you do not accidentally consume planting stock.
Repeat, collect and use
Harvesting can be repeated according to the planted crop’s in-game cycle. Replanting requires additional Cactus Seeds; do not assume a harvested fruit automatically supplies them.
Common mistakes
Planting without confirming footprint can waste prepared soil; check placement before committing the seed.
Neglecting irrigation can disrupt crop care; check the plot alongside Dew and tank rounds.
Using every seed for one planting may prevent later expansion; reserve seed stock if you plan a larger plot.
When to stop or switch
Harvest enough for current uses, then pause expansion if water or seed supply is tight; collect wild fruit to cover an immediate shortage.
