WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Cactus clusters around Sandrock, Gecko Station, and Highwind Pass.
Use the wild cactus sources when you need Cactus Fruit and have time for an outing. Kick Cactus Trees or Cactus Flower Trees, or use an Axe on Ball Cactus. The fruit can be kept for stamina food or recipes; cultivated supply is another option when you have Cactus Seeds.
A planned use such as food, a recipe, or a current order.
Travel from Sandrock toward an accessible cactus area near the outer zones.
Identify Cactus Trees and Cactus Flower Trees, which can be kicked for fruit.
Interact with each suitable tree and collect the Cactus Fruit that drops.
If you find Ball Cactus and have an Axe, use it to harvest that source as well.
Check inventory after gathering so fruit is not lost among other forage.
Keep the fruit needed for food, recipes, or an active order in a dedicated reserve.
For a cultivated alternative, plant Cactus Seeds in prepared Workshop soil when available.
Farming tips
Kicking the two tree types provides a route that does not depend on having an Axe; Ball Cactus does require logging.
Save fruit for the recipe or order you actually intend to complete before selling extras.
Repeat, collect and use
Wild collection can be repeated on later outings when cactus sources are available. Cultivation is repeatable only when you have seeds and a suitable planting area.
Common mistakes
Trying to chop a Cactus Tree when the intended method is kicking wastes effort; use the appropriate interaction.
Attempting Ball Cactus without an Axe leaves that source unavailable; bring the tool or target kickable trees.
Selling the whole haul can undermine food or recipe plans; reserve the amount needed first.
When to stop or switch
Stop when your current food or recipe reserve is met, then switch to planting if you need a more convenient ongoing supply.
