Carcass Materials with a Hunting Knife

A Hunting Knife harvests multiple useful outputs from animal carcasses, including chitin or hides, bones, and meat. A focused carcass run can stock several crafting lines at once.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Accessible animal habitats in a realm suitable for your combat gear; harvest at the resulting carcasses.

Hunt animals you can safely defeat, then use the knife on each carcass before leaving the area. The exact materials depend on the carcass, so plan around the output your recipe needs and treat other drops as useful by-products.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • A Hunting Knife suitable for the carcass tier.
  • Combat gear appropriate to the animals you plan to hunt.
  • Inventory space for meat, hides or chitin, and bones.
  1. Check recipes to determine whether you need hide, chitin, meat, or bones.
  2. Enter a realm where you can safely encounter animals and follow accessible terrain.
  3. Engage only animals your equipment can handle and finish the hunt safely.
  4. Approach the carcass and equip the Hunting Knife.
  5. Harvest the carcass and collect the available materials before moving on.
  6. Track which output is still needed and avoid carrying excess by-products if space is limited.
  7. Return to the estate and store or process each material according to its recipe.

Farming tips

  • The Hunting Knife is the tool for carcass materials; a weapon used to defeat an animal does not replace the harvesting tool.
  • Keep raw Hide if a recipe asks for it; use a Tanning Station only when treated hide is specifically required.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat while suitable animals and unharvested carcasses are available. Each carcass is a limited harvest, so the run depends on finding and defeating more animals rather than reusing one carcass.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving carcasses unharvested: equip the knife and collect output before moving away.
  • Hunting beyond your capability: choose safer targets or improve gear before returning.
  • Processing every Hide automatically: check recipe requirements and preserve raw material when needed.

When to stop or switch

Stop when the needed carcass materials are stocked or available animals become too risky; switch to a different realm or return after improving equipment.
