Temper kept equipment with Umbracite

Umbracite lets you temper equipment properties at the Blacksmith, so using it on gear you plan to keep turns a scarce upgrade material into a targeted build improvement.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

The Blacksmith at the Starting Point, using the Temper service on a weapon or armor piece.

This guide covers the Umbracite use step: select a lasting piece of equipment, inspect the tempering choices, and spend the material only when a listed property helps your build. Umbracite can come from eligible Twilight first-clear rewards, but the reward route is covered separately. Tempering changes an equipment property through the Blacksmith; it does not guarantee a specific effect, so review the available choices before committing.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Have Umbracite in your inventory.
  • Unlock Blacksmith services through story progress.
  • Have a weapon or armor piece you expect to keep and improve.
  1. Return to the Starting Point after a mission and speak with the Blacksmith.
  2. Open the Temper service and select the equipment piece you want to modify.
  3. Inspect the available property choices and identify one that supports your current build.
  4. Check the displayed material and gold costs before confirming.
  5. Spend Umbracite to apply the selected available property.
  6. Review the changed item in your equipment inventory and equip it if it improves your setup.
  7. Keep remaining Umbracite for another worthwhile item or a later tempering choice.

Farming tips

  • Temper gear only after comparing it with likely replacements; early equipment is often temporary.
  • Read the options presented for the selected item instead of planning around an effect that may not appear.

Repeat, collect and use

Tempering is repeatable while you have materials and gold, but each use consumes resources. Replenish Umbracite through eligible reward opportunities, then return to the Blacksmith when a kept item has a useful available option.

Common mistakes

  • Spending Umbracite on a drop you will soon replace; wait for equipment worth keeping.
  • Choosing an effect without checking the displayed options; select only from properties currently offered.
  • Ignoring the gold cost; confirm you can afford the service before applying the temper.

When to stop or switch

Stop when the item has a useful property for your build or when the remaining options do not justify the cost. Save the material for a later piece rather than tempering just to use it.
