The Analysis Visor identifies visible plants, minerals, and other surface targets, letting you gather a named resource instead of mining at random.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Planetary surfaces while scanning flora, minerals, and fauna with the Multi-Tool.
Use the visor as the first step in a surface resource route. Its scan labels help distinguish plants and rocks, while the nearby markers guide you to targets. The visor supports visible-resource gathering; deep mineral, gas, and power deposits require the Survey Device and its separate survey modes. Uploading discoveries is a separate use of the interface from harvesting materials.
Inventory room for the resource you plan to collect.
Mining Beam or Terrain Manipulator for targets that require mining.
Equip the Multi-Tool that has the Analysis Visor installed.
On a planet, activate the visor and point it at nearby flora, mineral formations, or fauna.
Read the target name and resource label before choosing what to collect.
Use the marker to approach the target, then interact or mine with the appropriate tool.
Check the inventory to confirm the item was collected and the stack is available.
Repeat the scan-and-harvest process for the remaining required materials.
Use the visor’s discovery interface to upload discoveries when you want to record them.
Farming tips
Scan before mining so you know whether a target supplies the material you need.
Use Survey Device mode rather than ordinary visor scans when searching for deep hotspots.
Repeat, collect and use
Scanning is repeatable anywhere on a planet. Each scan can identify new nearby targets, while collecting the resource depletes or removes the individual target as applicable.
Common mistakes
Confusing a visible resource scan with a deep hotspot survey leads to the wrong route; install and select the Survey Device for hotspots.
Mining before reading a label can yield the wrong item; verify the displayed resource first.
Assuming a scan automatically collects an item is a mistake; approach and harvest the marked target.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the needed material is collected or the next target is too far from your route; resume scanning at the next landing or when a specific resource is needed.
