Where to farm
Multi-Tool technology inventory and planetary Survey mode.
Install the Survey Device on a compatible Multi-Tool, then use Survey mode on a planet to find a selected hotspot type. The device locates a deposit; it does not itself extract anything. Once the marker resolves, note the resource or power type and plan a base with the matching extractor or generator equipment.

Open the Multi-Tool technology interface and obtain the Survey Device blueprint if it is not already available.
Install the device in a technology slot using its listed materials.
Land on a planet and switch the Multi-Tool scanner into Survey mode.
Choose mineral, gas, or electromagnetic power detection depending on your goal.
Follow the signal until the hotspot resolves and check its named resource or type.
Mark the location and note the matching equipment needed for extraction or power.
Build the appropriate base equipment at the site and connect its storage or electrical network.
Farming tips
Use the separate survey modes deliberately; a gas search will not locate a mineral deposit.
Survey first, then gather the matching construction blueprints so you do not reach a site unable to build on it.
Repeat, collect and use
The unlock is a one-time technology installation per Multi-Tool. Hotspot surveying is repeatable on planets, and different locations can reveal different target types.
Common mistakes
Treating the Survey Device as an extractor leaves the resource uncollected; build the corresponding equipment after locating it.
Selecting the wrong survey mode can send you after an irrelevant site; choose based on the resource or power need.
Arriving without build access or blueprints delays setup; prepare the base and extractor requirements first.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the device is installed and you have located a suitable site for your current goal; survey again when a different material or power source is needed.
