Abyss Fissures and the Abyssal City

Abyss zones can lead to the Abyssal City, a chance encounter with its own exclusive loot.

PC / Global Early Access
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Abyss zones reached through Atlas content that includes Abyss. The zone contains fissures leading to Abyssal Pits and may open a route to the Abyssal City.

Abyss content starts with fissures in an Abyss zone. Clear the monsters in each area to close its fissures and draw out further monsters. When the fissures are closed, the zone has a chance to open a hole into the Abyssal City. That opening is not guaranteed, so treat the city as a possible bonus rather than the expected payout of every run. If the hole appears, enter the city, defeat its enemies, and collect the exclusive loot available there. This activity is useful when you want to pursue Abyss rewards, but the route does not promise a particular item. Complete the zone’s encounter and check the result before moving on.

How to farm

Before you go

  • Reach the Atlas and enter an Abyss zone.
  • Be ready to fight successive groups of monsters throughout the zone.
  • Leave time to finish the encounter and collect rewards before exiting.
  1. Enter an Abyss zone and locate its fissures.
  2. Clear the monsters in the area around the fissures.
  3. Check that the fissures have closed and continue fighting the monsters they draw out.
  4. Clear the remaining monsters in the zone rather than leaving the encounter unfinished.
  5. When the fissures are cleared, check whether a hole to the Abyssal City has opened.
  6. If it has, enter the city and defeat its monsters.
  7. Collect the drops from the completed zone and any city encounter before leaving.

Farming tips

  • Clear the monsters tied to the fissures before moving on; the zone’s progression depends on closing them.
  • Treat the Abyssal City as a chance outcome, and count the zone’s other rewards as the run’s result if no entrance appears.

Repeat, collect and use

Run other available Abyss zones to pursue more encounters. The City opening is a chance outcome, not a guaranteed reward for each zone.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving fissure areas uncleared; finish the nearby monster groups so the fissures can close.
  • Expecting the City every run; continue with other Abyss content when no entrance appears.
  • Leaving drops behind when the encounter ends; collect rewards before exiting the zone.

When to stop or switch

Finish after clearing the zone’s fissures and monsters, and clear the City too if its entrance appears. Switch activities if the remaining Abyss fights are beyond your character’s strength.
