Livestock Products

A managed herd can provide recurring materials such as milk, wool, or eggs, depending on the species kept.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

A pen or restricted area near feed storage, with access to the colony’s appropriate product storage.

Livestock output depends on the animal species and a functioning setup. First acquire a suitable tamed animal, then check its information for what it produces and what it eats. Pen animals need an enclosure with a pen marker; other animals can be managed with allowed areas. Collect products from the animal area and keep herd size, feed needs, and storage under control.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • A tamed or purchased animal of a species that produces a desired product.
  • A pen marker and enclosed space for species that require pens, or an allowed area for other animals.
  • Suitable feed or accessible grazing and a sleeping spot.
  • Storage accepting the specific product, such as food storage for edible products.
  1. Inspect an animal’s information to confirm its species produces the output you want and identify its food needs.
  2. Acquire the animal through taming, purchase, or colony breeding; ensure the colony can handle and feed it.
  3. For a pen animal, enclose an area and place a pen marker; otherwise assign a suitable allowed area.
  4. Provide food and a sleeping spot, then watch the herd’s condition and access to feed.
  5. Check the Animals tab and nearby stockpiles for collected milk, wool, eggs, or other listed output.
  6. Use edible output in meals, textile output in crafting, or store a surplus for trade after colony needs are met.

Farming tips

  • Keep the herd sized to available feed and labor; livestock eat crops, need care, and can create filth.
  • Separate animals from crop fields with pens or allowed areas to prevent grazing losses.

Repeat, collect and use

Products recur only while the relevant animals remain alive, fed, and in suitable condition. The output and collection pattern depend on species; breeding a herd is not an instant or guaranteed supply.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming every animal gives the same product: inspect the species before investing in feed and space.
  • Allowing animals to wander through crops: use a pen or allowed-area restrictions appropriate to the species.
  • Expanding the herd without feed planning: reduce the herd or grow/store more feed if the animals cannot be sustained.

When to stop or switch

Stop breeding or acquiring animals when feed, enclosure space, or product storage becomes a bottleneck; resume expansion when those constraints are resolved.
