SAM Fluctuation Conversion

SAM ore supports alien technology progression, including the Dimensional Depot research chain. Keeping it on a dedicated line makes the unusual resource easier to manage alongside ordinary ores and ingots.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Use the Resource Scanner when SAM is available as a target, or locate a deposit through exploration. Choose a node with a practical route to the research or production area.

Locate SAM, mine it with a dedicated Miner, and route it through the SAM Fluctuator technology chain toward the Dimensional Depot research. The goal is to unlock and supply the alien technology system rather than fold SAM into standard ingot logistics.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • SAM Fluctuator technology and the relevant Dimensional Depot research path.
  • A SAM deposit and Miner.
  • Dedicated belts or storage to keep SAM separate from conventional ore lines.
  1. Confirm the SAM Fluctuator and relevant research stages are available in your progression.
  2. Locate a SAM node with the scanner or by exploration and inspect access to the site.
  3. Place a Miner on the node and connect its output to a clearly labeled, separate belt.
  4. Route SAM to the appropriate conversion machines unlocked by the technology chain.
  5. Collect the converted output and deliver it to the Dimensional Depot research or production steps that request it.
  6. Keep a buffer for the next research stage without mixing SAM with standard ingot inputs.
  7. Expand extraction only when the active research or depot demand consumes the existing supply.

Farming tips

  • Label the SAM route from the Miner onward so it does not disappear into ordinary ore handling.
  • Check the MAM and current production recipe before building each conversion stage.

Repeat, collect and use

Mining and conversion can run continuously while inputs and downstream capacity remain available. Research milestones are completed as progression tasks; continue collecting converted materials when the Dimensional Depot chain or later use requires them.

Common mistakes

  • Mixing SAM into a regular ore line makes it harder to reserve for alien technology; maintain a dedicated route.
  • Building conversion machines before unlocking their technology can block setup; verify the available recipe first.
  • Mining far beyond current research needs ties up logistics; scale after observing actual consumption.

When to stop or switch

Stop expanding SAM extraction when the current research and depot progression have the resources they need. Resume when a later stage requests more or the existing line becomes a bottleneck.
