Somersloops and Mercer Spheres are fixed-location collectibles with uses in alien technology systems. Finding and collecting them is an exploration task rather than a renewable resource farm.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Artifacts are found at fixed world locations. Use the Object Scanner to narrow the search, then approach the site on foot and inspect the surroundings for hazards and access obstacles.
Use the Object Scanner after it is unlocked to search for artifacts, then travel to the indicated area, clear hazards, and collect the item. The hunt is limited by the set of artifacts available in the world.

How to farm
Before you go
Object Scanner unlocked and available.
Hazard protection appropriate to the area you plan to explore.
Inventory space and a safe route for returning or continuing exploration.
Unlock the Object Scanner through progression and equip it before setting out.
Select the artifact target you are looking for if it is available in the scanner.
Follow the scanner guidance toward the artifact’s area, checking terrain as you approach.
Inspect the immediate site and deal with nearby hazards before interacting with the collectible.
Collect the Somersloop or Mercer Sphere and confirm it is in your inventory.
Return to your base or research area and use the artifact for the available progression or production system.
Repeat the search for another artifact target; track which locations you have already visited.
Farming tips
Carry suitable hazard protection and supplies before exploring dangerous terrain.
Keep artifacts reserved for the research or production use you value most, especially when a machine consumes one.
Repeat, collect and use
Individual artifact pickups are limited and collected once per location. The world hunt can be repeated for other fixed artifacts, but it is not an endlessly respawning farm; use collected items in the relevant systems.
Common mistakes
Searching without the Object Scanner makes locating targets less directed; unlock and equip it first.
Rushing into a site without hazard preparation can interrupt the collection trip; assess threats before approaching.
Treating artifacts as renewable machine inputs can exhaust the available collection pool; plan their use deliberately.
When to stop or switch
Stop a hunt when the required artifact target is collected or the remaining search no longer supports a current research or production goal. Resume when another artifact use becomes important.
