WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm Find a Coal node using the resource map, then place and power a Miner on it. Run belts to generators, vehicle fuel handling, or manufacturing consumers.
Coal is a raw resource used mainly as fuel for vehicles and Coal-Powered Generators, and as an input to Steel production. Other recipes can also consume it, including unlocked alternate recipes. Decide which consumers need priority before routing a shared supply: a generator that runs short loses fuel, while a steel line competes for the same mined Coal. Coal is extracted directly from a resource node with a Miner.

Before you go A Coal node, Miner, and power connection. A belt or other transport route sized for the consumers you plan to supply. Open the resource map and locate Coal nodes. Check node purity and choose a site that is accessible for your intended transport route. Place a Miner on the node and connect it to power. Route Coal to Coal-Powered Generators, vehicle fuel logistics, or a Foundry producing Steel Ingots. If multiple lines share the supply, add a buffer and decide which consumers should receive Coal first. Watch delivery and consumer buffers; expand extraction or redirect belts if demand exceeds supply. Farming tips Coal also appears in recipes for Diamonds, Raw Quartz, Sulfur, Aluminum Scrap, Black Powder, and other products. Optional alternate recipes need to be unlocked before you build a line around them. Repeat, collect and use Keep mining while your power or production lines need Coal; check buffers regularly and adjust the distribution as demand changes.
Common mistakes Do not treat Coal as a manufactured part; extract it from a resource node. Do not rely on a mapped location or purity if your world uses randomized resource placement or purity. When to stop or switch Stop or reduce mining when consumer buffers are full or your target fuel and production reserves are met.
