CRAFTING & INGREDIENTS

Aluminum Scrap acquisition

Build a Refinery, select the Aluminum Scrap recipe, and connect Alumina Solution and Coal to its inputs. Route Aluminum Scrap to a Foundry and provide a clear path for the Water coproduct.

Produce Aluminum Scrap in a Refinery from Alumina Solution and Coal. Each standard recipe batch uses 4 m³ of Alumina Solution and 2 Coal, producing 6 Aluminum Scrap and 2 m³ Water. At 100% clock speed, the Refinery consumes 240 m³ Alumina Solution and 120 Coal per minute, producing 360 Scrap and 120 m³ Water per minute. Plan routes for both outputs: Scrap feeds Aluminum Ingot production in a Foundry, while Water must be drained, stored, or reused. If the Water output backs up, the Refinery can stop even when its inputs are available.

How to craft

Before you craft

Refinery and Aluminum Scrap recipe unlocked
4 m³ Alumina Solution and 2 Coal per batch

Place a Refinery where the liquid and solid inputs and both outputs can be connected.
Select the Aluminum Scrap recipe.
Connect a fluid line carrying Alumina Solution to the Refinery.
Supply Coal on a belt to the solid input.
Route the Scrap output toward a Foundry for Aluminum Ingots or to storage.
Connect the Water output to a sink, tank, or process that can use it.
Start production and check the input buffers and Water route if the Refinery pauses.

Crafting tips

At 100% clock speed, the recipe outputs 360 Aluminum Scrap and 120 m³ Water per minute.
The optional Electrode Aluminum Scrap recipe requires its alternate unlock and uses different inputs and outputs.

Repeat, collect and use

Maintain the Alumina Solution and Coal supplies, keep Water flowing out, and send Scrap where Aluminum Ingots are made.

Common mistakes

Supplying Alumina Solution but forgetting Coal; both ingredients are required.
Leaving the Water output without capacity, causing the Refinery to back up.

When to stop or switch

Stop the Refinery when your Scrap buffer is full, downstream demand is met, or the Water route cannot accept more.
