Rope and Duct Tape

Rope and Duct Tape are common crafting supplies for equipment and repairs; gathering them during regular supply runs prevents avoidable shortages.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Suitcases around the crash site, abandoned camps, cannibal camp containers, and cave supply areas.

Treat these as opportunistic scavenging targets rather than guaranteed drops. Luggage, abandoned camps, cave supply areas, and other containers can provide supplies, but contents vary. Search the places you already pass through and keep both materials in reserve for a planned craft or repair.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Inventory space for supplies.
  • A weapon and basic healing items for hostile camps or caves.
  1. Open nearby crash-site luggage before leaving the starting area, checking each case rather than assuming a fixed contents list.
  2. As you travel, inspect abandoned camps for containers and loose supplies.
  3. At cannibal camps, secure the immediate area before searching red cases and other visible containers.
  4. When exploring caves, check supply shelves and rooms along your route instead of making a separate trip solely for a possible tape or rope pickup.
  5. Collect Rope and Duct Tape as separate items and leave room for other useful supplies.
  6. Back at camp, review your inventory and reserve materials for the next specific craft or repair.
  7. Repeat the same search pattern on later trips through camps and caves.

Farming tips

  • A container may not contain the material you want, so combine searches with food, medicine, and ammunition gathering.
  • Kelvin can help with basic resource gathering, but these container searches require you to loot the sites yourself.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable as a scavenging loop, but individual containers do not guarantee either material; revisit sources during normal travel rather than expecting a fixed refill.

Common mistakes

  • Treating one camp as a guaranteed Rope or Tape source; search several container types over time.
  • Spending all tape on low-priority crafts; keep a reserve for your next planned tool or repair.
  • Entering a hostile camp to loot before checking nearby threats; clear space to search safely.

When to stop or switch

Stop the supply detour once you have enough for the next craft or repair, then return to your route and scavenge again when passing new containers.
