Gather Nickel Ore from the Lost River for fabrication that calls for this deep-biome resource; loose pieces let you collect it without drilling.
PC / Global, final release
WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Lost River floor, ledges, and areas beside the green brine river.
Nickel Ore occurs loose across the Lost River floor and near brine river edges. The route is deep and hazardous, so bring a vehicle rated for the area and collect exposed pieces from safe ground. Large deposits are a separate bulk option for a Prawn Suit with a Drill Arm.
Original route schematic based on the author’s direction descriptions. It includes only their stated entrance coordinate; other layout relationships are relative and not to scale.
GET STARTED
How to farm
Before you go
Prawn Suit with depth module MK1 or Cyclops with depth module MK2 for the listed depth range.
Seaglide for movement and maneuvering outside the vehicle.
Vehicle repair supplies and a clear return plan.
Drill Arm if you intend to mine large deposits.
Choose a Lost River entrance from the Blood Kelp trench or Grand Reef, and enter with a vehicle rated for the route.
Descend toward the green brine river, using the large fossil area or another recognizable landmark to stay oriented.
Search the river floor and nearby ledges for loose Nickel Ore.
Collect only pieces on reachable ground; avoid lingering in the brine, which harms the player.
Keep an eye out for River Prowlers and preserve enough vehicle condition for the return journey.
Mark any large Nickel deposits that would be useful for a drill-equipped trip.
Return along your entry route, then use the Prawn Drill Arm on marked deposits if you need bulk ore.
Farming tips
The Lost River spans roughly 587–938 m, so the chosen vehicle rating must cover the depth you plan to reach.
Gather loose ore first; it requires no drill and avoids turning a resource run into a deposit-mining expedition.
Repeat, collect and use
Loose pieces and large deposits are finite in each location. You can revisit the Lost River or mine marked deposits later when you need more.
Common mistakes
Entering in an under-rated vehicle: verify its depth module before descending.
Standing in brine while collecting: approach from safe ground and leave the harmful area promptly.
Drilling with no Drill Arm: collect loose pieces by hand and return with the correct Prawn equipment for large deposits.
When to stop or switch
Turn back after collecting the needed Nickel or as soon as vehicle damage, depth, or return time erodes your safety margin.
