WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
A Shiverthorn crop row and Thresher line on a factory floor with room for separate output buffers.
Establish a repeatable Shiverthorn line by supplying seeds to Planters, sending harvested buds to a Thresher, and buffering the Extract output. Keep the crop loop and Thresher outputs legible so seeds return to planting while extract reaches its intended consumer. Water Wheel construction is one supported use for the output.
Shiverthorn Seed and access to the plant-growing setup.
Planter and Thresher unlocked.
Inserters, belts, or containers for seed and output routing.
A named consumer or storage buffer for Shiverthorn Extract.
Collect Shiverthorn and obtain seeds by threshing harvested plants if you do not yet have a seed supply.
Place Planters and supply them with Shiverthorn Seed and the inputs shown in their current machine panel.
Connect Planter output to a Thresher so the harvested buds are processed automatically.
Route Thresher outputs to separate buffers; return seed to the Planter supply and direct Extract to its own container.
Check that the Thresher is receiving buds and that the Extract buffer is increasing before extending the line.
Feed Extract to an active recipe, such as the Water Wheel recipe, which lists two units per wheel.
Expand Planters or processing only when the extract buffer cannot meet the intended recipe demand.
Farming tips
Do not combine seed and Extract routing; a Filter Inserter can direct a selected output from a mixed stream.
Reserve two Extract per planned Water Wheel before allocating surplus to other uses.
Repeat, collect and use
The crop and threshing loop repeats while seeds, inputs, and output space remain supplied. Harvesting a particular plant is not an unlimited standalone drop.
Common mistakes
Sending buds directly to the wheel assembler: thresh them to make Extract first.
Failing to return seeds: the Planter loop can stop when its seed input runs dry.
Mixing all Thresher outputs on one belt: filter and buffer each useful product.
When to stop or switch
Stop expanding once the Extract buffer satisfies your active recipe demand; revisit the line when the buffer is consistently empty.
