Where to farm
Outdoors on Prime after atmosphere is established; unlock the building through Insects progression.
The Outdoor Farm is a later food-production option unlocked through Insects progression. Once the planet has an atmosphere that permits outdoor placement, plant a seed to grow multiple crops from it. This differs from the one-crop Food Grower loop and can provide a larger harvest from a single seed input.
Advance the Insects terraforming track until Outdoor Farm unlocks.
Establish an atmosphere so outdoor placement is possible.
Have an Outdoor Farm and a suitable seed.
Provide the farm’s required build materials and power as indicated in-game.
Advance the Insects progression until Outdoor Farm is available.
Confirm the planet has an atmosphere and the build preview allows outdoor placement.
Choose an outdoor location at your base and construct the farm.
Insert a seed into the farm’s input.
Allow the crops to grow, then collect the output from the farm.
Store or use the harvest and check the farm’s input before starting another cycle.
Farming tips
Outdoor Farm is a later unlock than the basic Food Grower, so use indoor growers for early food.
One seed can yield multiple crops, but do not assume the seed return or output handling beyond what the farm inventory shows.
Repeat, collect and use
Plant another eligible seed after collecting the farm’s output. This is repeatable while the farm is supplied and operational; seed availability limits expansion.
Common mistakes
Trying to place the farm before atmosphere allows outdoor construction: wait for the condition and recheck the build preview.
Expecting the unlock early in the Oxygen track: continue Insects progression.
Leaving output uncollected: inspect the farm inventory and retrieve crops before filling its storage.
When to stop or switch
Use Outdoor Farms when their unlock and placement conditions are met; keep or add them while their larger harvest is useful and storage can accept it.
