Convert Produce into Seed Stock

Recover seeds from harvested vegetables so a field can be replanted without relying entirely on seed loot.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Inventory crafting at a safe base after collecting fresh or rotten vegetable produce.

Fresh or rotten vegetables can be crafted into seeds, allowing produce to feed the next planting cycle. This is a processing loop rather than a route to a particular named town: collect a vegetable, use its crafting conversion, then reserve the resulting seeds for planting. The recorded farming mechanics describe different seed returns for fresh and rotten produce, but do not rely on those counts if your in-game recipe differs.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Fresh or rotten vegetables that have a seed conversion in the crafting menu.
  • Inventory space for the vegetable and resulting seeds.
  • A legal crop surface and a seed reserve plan.
  1. Collect vegetables through loot or an existing crop harvest.
  2. At base, open crafting and inspect the available vegetable-to-seed conversion for the item you hold.
  3. Choose fresh produce for its listed conversion when available; use rotten produce only if that recipe is shown.
  4. Craft the seed output and check the inventory to confirm what was produced.
  5. Separate seeds intended for replanting from extra seeds you might consume or store.
  6. Place the reserved seed on a suitable crop surface when you want to grow another plant.
  7. Harvest the new crop and repeat the conversion with surplus produce.

Farming tips

  • Use the crafting interface as the final check because recipes and output can vary by produce.
  • Keep the first seeds for replanting before spending any as food.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat whenever you have vegetables to process and want replacement seed stock. This depends on produce supply; it cannot create seeds from nothing.

Common mistakes

  • Crafting away the only food: reserve enough to eat before processing.
  • Assuming every vegetable has identical output: verify the recipe and result in game.
  • Using every seed immediately: keep a planting reserve for the next crop cycle.

When to stop or switch

Stop processing when the seed reserve is enough for the plots you intend to plant; switch to consuming or storing surplus vegetables.
