Where to farm

Small fish schools beside the train in the Void; collect by hand or Grappling Hook.

Small schooling fish provide more than seed stock: their drops can include leather and fat. Gather them with hand interaction or a Grappling Hook, then route fat to Laboratory recipes and leather to the applicable Workbench recipes. Drop contents vary, so this is not an exact per-fish yield farm.

How to farm

Before you go

A safe train stop and tether for swimming collection, or a Grappling Hook.
Storage for sorting fish materials.
A Laboratory or Workbench when ready to process the ingredients.

Spot a small school beside the train and stop close enough for safe collection.
Swim into the school and interact with fish, or use a Grappling Hook from the platform.
Reel back with F if you left the train, then store the haul.
Separate seeds from crafting materials and reserve seeds for Garden Beds.
Use collected fat with chemicals at the Laboratory when making grease for mechanical components.
Keep leather for the Workbench recipes that list it, such as relevant gear or train items.

Farming tips

Use a Grappling Hook to avoid leaving the platform when fish are within range.
Do not hunt sharks for seed production; their drops differ from small fish schools.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat on later Void runs as schools appear; fish provide a variable mix of seeds, leather, and fat rather than a guaranteed amount of each.

Common mistakes

Expecting every catch to give both fat and leather; store and plan around the materials actually collected.
Using all seeds as crafting stock; keep enough for crop replacement and expansion.
Confusing hostile sharks with small fish; target the peaceful schools for this loop.
