Mining Turret Efficiency

A repeatable loadout optimization for improving mining yields and avoiding wasted cargo and operation capacity.

PC / Global, current base game
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Ship outfitting before a manual asteroid run or remote Mining Operation.

Mining turret efficiency affects the yield of Mining Operations, so a mining ship should be fitted around the actual ore target and cargo plan. R-mining is useful for collecting raw ore for later depot refining. Compare turrets before dispatch and avoid filling the ship with weak or mismatched equipment that reduces the value of a run.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Mining turret or turrets for the target material.
  • Cargo capacity for raw ore if using R-mining.
  • Captain and crew if the ship will run an operation.
  • Resource Depot access for processing the collected ore.
  1. Identify the target ore and inspect the ship’s current mining turret loadout.
  2. Confirm the installed equipment is a mining turret rather than a similarly presented salvage turret.
  3. Compare turret efficiency and material suitability before adding more weapons to the ship.
  4. Choose whether the run will use R-mining and make room for raw ore in cargo.
  5. For a remote operation, verify the ship has a mining turret and review cargo efficiency in the operation interface.
  6. Dispatch to a sector showing the target material and a risk level the ship can handle.
  7. Retrieve the miner, compare its delivery with the cargo and efficiency setup, and adjust the loadout if needed.
  8. Unload and refine raw ore at a Resource Depot before repeating.

Farming tips

  • Operation results depend on turret efficiency; removing a poor-fit turret can be more useful than adding another low-efficiency one.
  • Do not treat a Mining Subsystem as a mining weapon: it supplies information or operation benefits, while the turret performs mining.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable optimization before each mining assignment; equipment improvements persist until changed, while individual operation results vary.

Common mistakes

  • Confusing salvage and mining turrets: check the equipment type before dispatch.
  • Ignoring cargo-efficiency feedback: add cargo capacity where R-mining logistics are limiting the run.
  • Assuming one turret loadout suits every ore: check the target material and current sector before launch.

When to stop or switch

Stop changing the loadout when the operation has acceptable efficiency and cargo performance for the target, then spend resources on a different bottleneck if results remain poor.
