Food production converts harvested crops and other farm outputs into supplies for the population. It works best when crop choice, processor recipe and delivery capacity match each other.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Farm output and food processing buildings connected to the island’s food storage or population supply route.
Build a short, observable chain from a selected crop to the food recipe that consumes it, then route the finished output toward population supply. Recipe availability and input needs can depend on current research and game state, so use the building’s live recipe panel when setting the chain up.
A farm producing a crop used by an available food recipe.
The relevant food processor and its recipe unlocked.
Routes and storage for required ingredients and finished food.
Review available food recipes and identify the crop or other inputs the chosen recipe consumes.
Choose a farm crop that is unlocked and matches that recipe’s inputs.
Connect the crop output to the processor input, using appropriate storage or transport between buildings.
Select the intended recipe in the processor and verify its input requirements in the current panel.
Route any additional required ingredients to the processor and check that each input can arrive.
Connect finished food to storage or the population supply path that uses it.
Watch both processor status and inventory; correct whichever input or output is preventing the chain from running.
Farming tips
The processor’s current recipe panel is the reliable way to check the live input requirements.
Keep raw crop and finished food routes easy to inspect so a stalled processor is easier to diagnose.
Repeat, collect and use
This is a repeatable production chain while farms keep harvesting and every required input and output route remains available. Replenish or adjust crops as demand changes.
Common mistakes
Sending a raw crop directly to general storage without connecting the recipe that needs it: route the input to its processor.
Choosing a recipe before confirming its ingredients: check and supply all displayed inputs.
Allowing finished food storage to fill: make room or redirect output so processing can continue.
When to stop or switch
Switch recipes or reduce farm supply when the population’s need is met, the processor is blocked by surplus output, or the chosen recipe cannot be supplied consistently.
