Where to farm
Undead Settlement: the open area before reaching Irina of Carim.
A Crystal Lizard in the open area before Irina of Carim carries a fixed Heavy Gem. It is a one-time pickup, not a repeatable drop farm. Bring the Gem to Blacksmith Andre after giving him Farron Coal to unlock Heavy infusion. Heavy infusion favors Strength scaling while lowering base damage and Dexterity scaling, so preview the weapon’s stats before committing the Gem.
Reach the open area before Irina of Carim in Undead Settlement.
Have a quick or high-stagger attack ready to stop the fleeing Crystal Lizard.
Give Farron Coal to Andre before attempting a Heavy infusion.
Choose a weapon whose previewed Strength scaling suits your build.
Travel to Undead Settlement and make your way to the open area before Irina of Carim.
Listen for the Crystal Lizard’s twinkling sound and scan the open ground for it.
Close the distance promptly; lizards flee when approached and eventually disappear.
Attack before it escapes. A heavy-stagger or jump attack can knock it down and interrupt its retreat.
Collect the Heavy Gem from the lizard’s reward and check your inventory.
If it escapes before you defeat it, reload the area by resting, traveling, dying, or quitting and reloading, then search again.
Give Farron Coal to Andre if you have not unlocked Heavy infusion yet.
At Andre’s infusion menu, compare the weapon’s damage and scaling preview; apply the Gem if the tradeoff fits, or keep it for later.
Farming tips
A lizard’s reward is placed in your inventory even if its body falls from a ledge after defeat.
Heavy infusion reduces Dexterity scaling as well as base damage; use Andre’s preview to compare the result for your weapon.
Repeat, collect and use
This specific lizard provides one fixed Heavy Gem. Reload the area only to retry if it escapes; after the Gem is collected, the lizard does not provide another. Infusion consumes the Gem.
Common mistakes
Searching beside Dilapidated Bridge: the lizard with the Heavy Gem is in the open area before Irina of Carim; the Dilapidated Bridge lizard has a Sharp Gem reward.
Treating this as an enemy-drop loop: the Heavy Gem is tied to this particular lizard, so collecting it is limited to its one reward.
Infusing before checking Andre’s menu: give him Farron Coal to unlock Heavy infusion, then compare the displayed stats before spending the Gem.
When to stop or switch
Stop once the lizard’s Heavy Gem is collected. Infuse a weapon only if its preview suits your build; otherwise keep the Gem for a future Strength-focused weapon.
